Herbie is a handsome, discerning gentleman who likes his meaty treats and tasty flavoured biscuits which he takes gently. Herbie is an affectionate 5 year old Mastiff/Boxer cross looking for his adult-only forever home. He is both curious and cautious in new environments and had a long sniff here at the centre before cheekily nabbing and running off with his lead! He is a sweet, friendly boy and when excited, he likes to jump up and give face licks. This loving boy will need to be the only dog in the home. He is relaxed to see other dogs out and about as long as they keep their distance and stay out of his personal space. He cannot live with cats. Herbie has built bonds well with staff in the centre and he will happily have his collar changed and lead clipped on. He must continue to wear his lead when out in public.
Herbie is apprehensive when visiting the vet. He will accept treats and minimal fuss from them, so regular happy vet visits make the whole experience less scary for him. Herbie's adopters must be willing to continue with his training and further socialisation to help him build his confidence. Herbie would like his new owners to be around when he is settling into his new home and any time alone will then need building up slowly. Herbie knows basic commands and is learning to hop in and get comfy in the back of the car, so that he will be ready for the day when he can go on fun-filled journeys with his family.
