Finn - male Greyhound

Adoption fee: Please check with the rescue

  • Centre:Dogs Trust
  • Location:Canterbury
  • Sex:Male
  • Breed:Greyhound
Friendly and goofy, Finn is a 3 year old Greyhound who does everything with a wiggle of his body and a wag of his tail! Having lived his life in racing kennels, he doesn’t have much formal training, but he is a well-mannered boy with a gentle nature… even if he is a little clumsy! He is a very friendly boy and has become a firm favourite with all the staff at the centre with his happy and loving personality. Finn is a foody boy so care will be needed in the kitchen as he is tall enough to reach the counters and high tables! Although he loves a zoom around and a chance to stretch his long legs, Finn has such a loving, affectionate side and adores cuddles with his humans! He has little interest in toys and while he may briefly play with a squeaky one, he’s really not that fussed, he would rather be sleeping, or cuddling, he really wants nothing more in life than to relax all day after a short stroll. He is a gorgeous, cuddly, and laid-back lad who will be such a wonderful addition to a lucky home. Finn is looking for a home with a family who can introduce him with to his new life with patience and understanding while he learns about home living! As he can be a bit bouncy when excited, he can live with sensible children aged 10 years and over who will be sensible and calm with handling and interacting with him. Finn is learning to meet other breeds of dog having likely never met anything smaller than him before so although he could live with another dog in his home this will need to be another sighthound type breed. He can have walking buddies to share space with as he is very good when he on his lead and harness. Finn will not be able to live with cats or small animals due to his racing history, and he might need to wear a muzzle on walks in case he spots any small furry critters when he is out and about. He wears his muzzle happily. Having lived all his life in kennels, he will need time and patience to learn the rules of a home and he will likely need housetraining, so his adopters will need to give him regular access to a secure and private garden to help him learn. Finn can be left alone for up to around 2 hours once settled in but this should be introduced once he has had time to get used to his new home and routine and ideally be after a walk so he can relax and have a long snooze! Finn will need to meet his adopters a few times prior to going home so please bear this in mind when applying. If you rent your property, please have written permission from your landlord ready once you have submitted your application to avoid delays, as it will be required early on in the rehoming process if you are shortlisted. Please note that should you be shortlisted, our rehoming process usually takes between 7 - 10 days.
