Buddy - male German Shepherd Dog

Buddy is an incredibly sweet boy who is reaching a difficult period of his life developmentally, having just turned 1 year old. He is still growing into his GSD body and will need new owners that are able to continue to work with Buddy as he matures over the next couple of years. He’s sadly spent most of his life in kennels so transition to home life will need to be made gradually. However he is housetrained in kennels, so while a quick refresher might be welcomed he’ll pick it up in no time! Initially Buddy may struggle being left alone so things should be provided for him to occupy himself and any time left to be built up gradually.
Buddy has a tremendous amount of potential and is going to need patient owners who understand that he is not going to settle in immediately and might make the odd mistake at first.

Buddy is a lovely boy who can have an anxious side in certain situations, and so is looking for an adult-only home. There is the potential for him to live with a pre-existing, well socialised older dog, following successful meets at the centre. A secure garden will be essential as he is going to need to be on lead when out in public so will want easy access to a place where he can zoom about off-lead! When Buddy feels overwhelmed he uses his mouth to grab onto clothing. While this is improving, we are expecting that when he goes home for this behaviour to increase again before he truly settles in his home. To help with this we will be gradually settling Buddy into his new home with trips out to the home once he has formed a relationship with his new family at the centre.
