Hector (was Noddie) - Male Beagle Cross Cocker Spaniel

07-01-2024 Hector is one of our long term stayers so we are starting his write up again to try and find him the perfect home. Hector is a really cool dude! He is super smart, I mean Mensa level and because of this he knows just how to make life go his way. Hector loves to learn which makes him a dog trainers delight. The more you give him the more he soaks up and because of this he has already got a lot of amazing training behind him. He has a good level of crate games, a number of tricks, he’ll happily put his nose into a muzzle, shake each of his paws, turn a circle, sit, down and more! Hector's issue in life is when settled he will guard. At the rescue we don’t see any of this, possibly as it’s not a home environment or possibly just because we do not give him the opportunity. We’ve been continually working towards his home life and teaching him things to help him with that transition. He has worked a lot on self control games, wearing a muzzle (so his new owners can confidently help him to make the correct choices in a home, whilst they learn what may bring on any unwanted behaviour). Hector is great with other dogs and happily lives amongst them. He often goes out for a walk with Chive and others and really enjoys the company. We also feel other well behaved dogs will help Hector to learn what is needed in a home. Hector happily walks past horses and other distractions without pulling. He would be looking for an adult only home.
